Nimesh completed our UX Design Program in 2019, and went on to complete the UI for UX Designers Specialization Course.
Hi Nimesh! Could you give us a brief overview of your educational and professional background before enrolling in the CareerFoundry program?
I have a Bachelors in International Finance and Economics from London Guildhall University, and worked previously as a senior UI designer.
What inspired you to make a career change into this field?
I worked in the financial sector for over eight years after completing university, but I always had a creative curiosity that I wanted to explore. I decided to switch careers in 2008, and set up a design company with a friend. That was the start of my career in (and passion for) design.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
I thoroughly enjoyed the syllabus, and its relevance in todays job market. The mentors and tutors also made a huge impact!
Tell us about your current job
I am currently happy working freelance as a Senior UI Designer. It allows me the freedom to pick and choose whom I want to work with. Also it keeps work exciting, as I’m constantly working on a variety of new and interesting projects.
Below, Nimesh maps out the design thinking process for his UX design portfolio project “InkTank”; a tattoo inspiration app.
“I wanted to create a portfolio project which not only showcases the technical work which goes into creating a app, but also wanted to showcase the project visually. I wanted powerful images to create beautiful emotions for the user. Tattoos are very personal, so I believe the app should evoke passion which can then be translated into beautiful designs and tattoos.”
